Quiche is tasty and delicious, but unfortunately they don’t always have that much to the filling.  Not like this Farmhouse Quiche recipe which prepares a large Farmhouse Quiche with plenty of extra taste. 

It’s quick and easy to make, delicious for lunch or dinner and a great homemade recipe

Farmhouse Quiche Recipe

Ingredients:

For Pastry –

225g Plain Flour

110g Butter or Margarine

1 Egg Yolk

6 Tbsp Water

Pinch of Salt

Filling Ingredients –

Chop:

  • 300g Smoked Bacon
  • 3 Large Cup Mushrooms
  • 1 Stick of Celery
  • ¼ large Red Pepper
  • ¼ Large Green Pepper
  • 2 Large Garlic Cloves
  • ½ Onion
  • ½ Red Onion

120g Grated Cheese

Tbsp Parmesan Cheese

2x Tsp Mixed Herbs

Salt & Pepper

200 ml Cream

2x Eggs

Prep & Cooking Guidance:

Pastry Preparation Part 1 –

  1. Add flour to sieve, add salt
  2. Sift flower into bowl
  3. Add butter and cut into flour with knife
  4. Crumble together with hands or electric mixer
  5. Add egg yolk and mix together with knife
  6. Add water and knead pastry mix with hands
  7. Flour a worktop and create a ball with the pastry
  8. Flatten into circle with palm and rolling pin
  9. Wrap pastry in greaseproof paper and chill in fridge for 30 mins

Filling Preparation –

  1. Grate cheese
  2. Fry the bacon in a Tbsp of oil
  3. Add Chopped Vegetables
  4. Add mixed herbs
  5. Lightly cook to soften the vegetables but don’t overcook

Pastry Preparation Part 2 (after 30mins chilling) –

  1. Flour a clean worktop
  2. Flatten and roll out pastry
  3. Use the round pie dish to guide size
  4. Rolled pastry should be larger than the diameter of the pie dish
  5. Roll the pastry onto the rolling pin and then over the pie dish
  6. Fit the pastry to the pie dish. 
  7. It should be flat and smooth on the bottom and right up to the edges of the dish
  8. Cover the pastry with tinfoil and use a circular oven tin to hold the foil and pastry flat
  9. Blind bake for 10 mins on 170 c (Fan)

Final Preparations –

  1. Remove the pie dish from the oven and place on work top
  2. Remove cake tin and tinfoil
  3. Add the pre-cooked bacon and vegetable filling into the pastry crust
  4. Spread filling evenly
  5. Whisk the 2x eggs and cream together in a Pyrex jug or bowl
  6. Add salt and pepper to the filling in the pastry crust
  7. Pour the eggs and milk and spread evenly over the bacon and vegetable filling
  8. Add the grated cheese and parmesan on top
  9. Oven bake at 170c (Fan) for 40 mins

Serve with new potatoes and salad.  Enjoy!
