Delicious Chocolate Nut Cake
With a classic mix of chocolate and nuts you can rarely go wrong. This is a great recipe for anyone that likes their chocolate cake with an extra special taste.
This chocolate nut cake recipe was given to me by a girl who had been an Air Stewardess. She used to make us laugh with some of her stories. She reckoned she had to deal with a few nutty passengers in her time. 1 Cup Chocolate Chips
1 ½ Cups Chopped Nuts
½ Cup Plain Flour
¾ Cup Sugar
2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
1/4 Teaspoons Salt
1 cup whipping cream
2 Cups (250 grams) dark chocolate
Prep & Cooking Guidance
Heat cream till almost boiling. Remove from heat. Add broken chocolate. Beat well until thick and glossy. Spread over cake.
Preheat oven to 160c / 325f / Gas Mark 3. Combine the melted chocolate chips with the sugar and egg yolks. Beat until creamy. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt together. Add half to chocolate mixture, then half the nuts. Repeat with remaining ingredients. Beat the egg whites. Fold into the mixture and pour into a lightly greased and floured cake 8 in (20cm) and bake for 45 minutes. Cover with the chocolate icing or whipped cream and decorate with nuts.
